What is the solution?
Model driven MES is a process centric approach to the digital transformation of operational best practices for reuse, sustainable standardization and continuous improvement in single plant and multi-site manufacturing operations.
AVEVA Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a feature rich integrated manufacturing operations management (MOM) application including integrated Production and Inventory Operations, Performance Management and in-line Quality Management functionality. Native Integration of MES software with AVEVA Workflow Management adds digital work process management and configurable user interface functionality. This combination allows to model, automate and execute operational activities and tasks with procedural enforcement of the MES business rules and systematic collaboration across people, the MES and additional systems. Digital workflow modelling abstracts the operational work and data collection procedure definitions from the technical details of a MES system deployment and architecture. This abstraction provides reusability and adaptability of MES activity and user interface functionality in another instance of the software, which enables standardization of operational processes across the business for our customers.
We are leveraging this reusability and offer preconfigured workflows and user interface forms for standard MES activities. Model driven MES content packages for standard MES activities are provided for import and adaptable reuse to all AVEVA Manufacturing Execution System users (Customers and Partners) to help to shorten the time to value and sharing best practices of MES use.
Announcing the release of Model driven MES content 2.0 and of new Inventory Management content.
What value does it bring to our customers?
Using MES Software’s real-time information, decision makers and operators can effectively manage the production order flow and job operations execution, track the transformation of products from raw materials through to finished goods, and keep production quality under control. MES Software additionally provides detailed historical data on production performance, resources and asset utilization to continuously increase operational efficiencies, return on assets and yields. Electronic records of operational execution, product genealogy, material flow, traceability and quality checks reduce the cost of regulatory compliance and minimize the consumer safety risks.
The model driven approach offers sustainable digital transformation of operational processes, can capture the knowledge and best practices of an aging workforce, helps to enforce standard operating procedures and procedural execution, empowers operators with a digital and mobile user experience
Finally, the model driven MES approach helps to bring down that total cost of ownership (TCO) for multi-site and enterprise class MES, by offering a methodology to successfully deploy common solutions to common problems. It supports customers to achieve standardization and reduce total cost of ownership with templates and governance of standards to adopt change for continuous improvement or to support new business models and strategies. Other values of multi-site MES standardization is a consistent approach to regulatory compliance – so the individual sites are not deciding how they comply with Osha, FDA or food safety requirements. Additional it allows a very consistent view into the business when KPI’s and scorecard metrics are calculated in the same fashion which allows a meaningful site comparison.
How is the AVEVA Manufacturing Execution System differentiated from competitive offerings?
The integration with advanced workflow and business process management and the related benefits, the multi-site MES standardization approach, the integrated quality operations functionality and equipment centric integration with the automated process are the competitive differentiators of AVEVA MES offering.
The tight integration of MES software’s rule and information models with Workflow management allows to model operational activities as workflows and to configure the related user interface for digital execution with a full audit trail.
The high level of configurability and reusability of workflow and user interface as MES application content offers an adaptable “Model driven” approach to sustainable enterprise standards for MES and other manufacturing operations management (MOM) activities,
The proven and full cycle business process management (BPM) functionality enables people collaboration within and beyond the MES functional domain and across people and systems in a plant or the enterprise.
Integration with Wonderware System Platform provides a unique solution for automated data collection and manufacturing execution on automated processes leveraging the object orientation, reusability and hierarchical plant model features of System Platform.
What’s new with the Model driven MES Content 2.0 and new Inventory Management content release?
Model Driven Content is provided as Workflow Management packages which include preconfigured forms and underlying workflow models for executing MES activities. This release includes maintenance and enhancements for the Work Order and Job Management Packages. The fully new Inventory Management content package enables full material traceability and provides the additional out of the box content for covering the full range of MES Operations functionality.
The Inventory Management version 1.0 package includes forms and workflows that allow supervisors to receive and manage inventory among lots and storage locations. Features include:
o Receiving material or items against a purchase order
o Viewing plant inventory with filtering capabilities
o Performing inventory transactions: Receive, Transfer, Scrap, Split Lot, Combine Lot
• The Job Management version 2.0 package includes forms and workflows that allow operators to manage jobs in a job queue, adding job production, and adding BOM consumption.
New features include:
o Consuming from available inventory
o Setting the default lot for consumed items
• The Work Order (WO) Management version 2.0 package unchanged includes forms and workflows that allow supervisors to manage work orders, a work order’s job bill of materials (BOM) records, and a work order’s job specifications.
