Event: Wonderware KnowledgeXchange Ghent
Even though there wasn't any football, there was still a score. After a week earlier in Pathé Nijmegen, the Wonderware KnowledgeXchange 2019 in Ghent, Belgium, was also extremely successful. The Ghelamco Arena, the stadium of KAA Ghent, was easy to travel to and turned out to be the ideal location with plenty of space for the exhibitors/sponsors, an excellent presentation room and a beautiful lunch area with a very nice view of the football field.
Eric van Nispen took care of the opening of the day and quickly passed on the names of a number of high-profile new relations/projects of the past year. He also discussed the price-friendly OTA environment (a second environment for Design, Test and Acceptance for only 8 percent of the costs), the advantages of subscription versus perpetual, AVEVA Flex, and so on.
Corneel Versmissen of Imtech Belgium talked about next generation SCADA - with Wonderware System Platform, InTouch OMI and MES ImPlant - at Boortmalt. After the coffee break, various product solutions were zoomed in on in 6 blocks of 10 minutes. Very interesting is the possibility to test the complete product set completely free of charge for 45 days via www.remote-monitoring.be.
A delicious meal was enjoyed and then Dominique Bastemeijer had the floor, who explained the close cooperation between AVEVA and Microsoft. A good story that stands like a house, but with a different approach than his colleague Jan Depping of last week and for that reason alone worth looking back at both presentations. Jasper Zondervan told about the Proof of Concept at Hill's Pet Nutrition where Wonderware Benelux provided surprising insights through Manufacturing Analytics in a short period of time and calculated the potential savings. An extensive reference case has been written about the project at Hill's which can be downloaded separately. Luc Dhondt had the honour to end this instructive afternoon with his presentation.. He presented the enlightening story of Thijs Potters - who was unfortunately unable to make it this day - about the steps taken on the way to Industry 4.0 at Saint-Gobain Isover. A very informative day that ended with a networking drink and for the fans a tour through the football stadium and received a nice Wonderware-football!
If you weren't there this year, we hope to welcome you at the next edition. You don't have to wait that long, from next week you can also look back at all the presentations because both days are filmed for you from start to finish.
