Wonderware releases MES v4.0/Operations and Performance Software.
Wonderware MES v4.0 / Operations- and Performance Software is the latest release of Operations and Performance Software. Operations Software is offered in two “levels” of functionality: Operations - Standard provides basic MES functionality such as electronic work orders, specifications, bills of material (BOM), product traceability and genealogy while Operations - Premium provides all of the Operations Standard functionality plus inventory control, certifications, steps/procedures and labor tracking. Performance Software is Wonderware's equipment downtime and OEE tracking solution. Wonderware MES v4.0 / Operations- and Performance Software is fully integrated in itself and to the Wonderware System Platform (including Information Server). A new addition to Wonderware MES Software v4.0 is the MES Client, an ArchestrA Toolkit-based front end that accommodates the needs of most clients.
Key Features of the Wonderware MES v4.0 / Operations and Performance Software
Operations Capability Object (OCO) - Provides integration between Wonderware MES and Application Server for operations capability. It also replaces PEM objects offering compatible functionalities and migration
Specifications - Capability to create and configure Specifications at the Entity-Class and Item-Class level. Specifications capability added to the OCO to provide specification downloads
User Interface - A new MES Client Application updates the look and feel of the Configurator and Supervisor functionality in an MES Client front end (some functionality was removed from Configurator and Supervisor applications to reduce setup complexity)
Database Maintenance - Archive, purge and restore database maintenance utility
Supply Chain Connector - Enhanced Import/Export functionality for entity and execution data, utilization data and Factory Connector data
Infrastructure Support - Redesigned the Middleware Transport
Now uses Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) as new middleware communication method), with no dependency on COM+ and DCOM, making product easier to install and deploy. Also, supports asynchronous and guaranteed messaging. Support for New Technologies including User Access Control (UAC) and 64 Bit OS / SQL Server (Vista and 2008).
API - New Stateless API with 1,200 new methods and thread safe support. Also adds Middleware Extensibility Hooks (custom stored procedure or assembly call pre or post middleware call) and error flow control.
Dynamic Routing - Allows users to specify multiple routes for a process (especially useful for customers migrating from MEM)

Upgrade Programs
The standard Upgrade Programs are in place for Wonderware MES v4.0 / Operations and Performance Software.
An upgrade Path for former MES software and -versions (PEM, EOM, MEM, Factelligence etc.) to Wonderware MES v4.0 Operations software will be provided. (Please watch out for detailed info in separate alert in the next days)
Version Upgrades
Current users of Performance Software 3.5 and Equipment Performance Module versions 1.0 and 2.0 that are on Customer Support can request free upgrades to Wonderware MES v4.0 / Performance Software.
Customers without a valid Customer First Support contract may purchase version upgrades.
Functional Upgrades
Functional upgrade credits will be offered to Wonderware MES v4.0 / Operations and Performance Software customers if they require a larger license (more equipment).
